Since we met in 2008, Bobby has been a friend and boda (bike taxi) driver for our team and thousands of tourists visiting Uganda. This bike is his only source of income
The bike is not in great shape nor is it entirely safe anymore…and once this goes so does his income and the support for his family.
We aim to buy him a much newer, safer motorbike. This bike will not be brand new, but it will be considerably better than the one he uses daily.
A used bike to a decent level is around 2.8 million Ugandan shillings.

Chief of the stage…
Boda Stages are just like bus stops, usually formed in strategic areas around a village, town or city. Each stage has a chief who runs the rest of the Boda riders. Bobby is the Chief of the Bujagali Boda Stage.
This means he is the very first person I go to to organize bike logistics for projects and for our teams to move around. We set prices swerving the constant haggle and usually, everyone is happy.
In 2018 Bobby and his team all rallied together for a big photo shoot as the sun was setting, I had the wild idea to sit back to back as Bobby rode and I filmed another rider on the track.
At the time of this video in 2018 Bobby had 15 years of experience, as I write this today 6 years on in 2024 not only does Bobby have 6 years more experience but his bike also has another 6 years of use which is a miracle.
