Handmade Journal from Udaipur, Rajasthan
Your notebook, sketchbook, or journal has already taken its first steps on a journey—a story that began in the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.
Select your Colour and which paper you would like…
Paper 1 – Red Goat Coat (off white paper with red dyed goat hair texture)
Paper 2 – Treelined ( white textured paper with foliage embedded)
Paper 3 – Straw (Desert Journal Only)
Paper 4 – Pepper (various shades of peppery dots)
In 2015, I met Ali and made his portrait. In 2023, I returned to find him, only to learn that he had passed away. But the story didn't end there. I found the shop, now in the hands of his son, Firoz and grandson Aziz. In 2024, I returned, and together, we continue this beautiful adventure.
Ali and his father, before him, were among the first to introduce handmade paper to Udaipur. Tucked between soft goat-leather covers, you’ll find pages crafted with care—an original collection of handmade papers bound into journals, sketchbooks, and notebooks.
By choosing this book, you're investing in a story of craft, connection, and continuation. You’re helping us keep Ali’s legacy alive—and sending his books onward, to new places and new hands around the world.
